The Lord of Hosts

I
The Lord of hosts is with us still,
The God of Jacob He,
A refuge to His saints of old,
Our refuge He will be;
He changeth not with changing years,
To Him we still may call,
In every age He doth remain.
The Father of us all.

The Lord of hosts,
The Lord of hosts
Is with us still,
is with us still,
A refuge safe
A refuge safe
from every ill;
from every ill;
We hear Him speak
We hear Him speak
mid storm and flood,
mid storm and flood,
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God,”
that I am God,”
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God.”
that I am God.”

II
The Lord of hosts is with us still,
Therefore we will not fear,
E’en then earth should be removed,
The mountains disappear;
He ever in our midst will be,
“A present help” indeed,
A fountain of unfailing strength,
In every time of need.

The Lord of hosts,
The Lord of hosts
Is with us still,
is with us still,
A refuge safe
A refuge safe
from every ill;
from every ill;
We hear Him speak
We hear Him speak
mid storm and flood,
mid storm and flood,
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God,”
that I am God,”
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God.”
that I am God.”

III
The Lord of hosts is with us still,
Tho cruel strife and hate,
The nations, one and all, possess,
Till earth be desolate;
Above the clouds and din of war,
He reigneth still on high,
A path He chooseth for our feet,
He guides us with His eye.

The Lord of hosts,
The Lord of hosts
Is with us still,
is with us still,
A refuge safe
A refuge safe
from every ill;
from every ill;
We hear Him speak
We hear Him speak
mid storm and flood,
mid storm and flood,
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God,”
that I am God,”
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God.”
that I am God.”

IV
The Lord of hosts is with us still,
In vain the heathen rage,
In vain the kingdoms of this world,
Their bloody conflict wage;
His kingdom shall established be,
In righteousness and peace,
And He will make the wrath of men,
Forevermore to cease.

The Lord of hosts,
The Lord of hosts
Is with us still,
is with us still,
A refuge safe
A refuge safe
from every ill;
from every ill;
We hear Him speak
We hear Him speak
mid storm and flood,
mid storm and flood,
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God,”
that I am God,”
“Be still and know
“Be still and know
that I am God.”
that I am God.”
